It was local DJ Mark the 45 King, who heard 'Princess of Posse', Latifah's demo version and passed it on to Fab Five Freddy the then host of Yo ! MTV Raps. Freddy helped Latifah secure a contract with Tommy Boy Records. Then came with a bang, her first album, "All Hail the Queen" {1988} achieved commercial success and critical appreciation. Next followed two more albums, "Nature of a Sista" and "Black Reign". The " "Black Reign" contained the hit single 'U.N.I.T.Y. that won her a Grammy Award. Her other albums that have made her the Queen of Music are "Order in the Court" and "The Dana Owens" {2004}.
Queen Latifah who ran a popular talk show called 'The Queen Latifah Show', from 1999 to 2001, has first appeared in a FOX sitcom "Living Single" in 1993 and later made her movie debut with "House Party 2" {1998}. Though she has acted in "Juice" and "Jungle Fever" she got noticed in "Set It Off", a 1996 movie, in which she portrayed the character of a lesbian. This amazing actress proved her mettle as an actress in "Bringing Down the House" {2003} for which she was nominated for Academy Award in 'Best Supporting Actress' category.
